The Jørna armchair has a sweet story behind it. Danish architect Poul M. Volther designed the chair with his wife, Jørna, in mind. He wanted to create a comfy chair in which she could relax and do her knitting.

The Jørna is a spacious armchair with plenty of room for knitting, reading the paper, or working on your laptop. Relax and stretch out—this classic wooden-barred armchair has all the space you need.

By the Designer of the Corona Chair In 1950, Poul M. Volther assumed the position of design supervisor for FDB Møbler, succeeding acclaimed designer Børge Mogensen. As his predecessor had done, Volther became one of the most iconic furniture originators of the golden age of Danish design. Volther trained and worked as a cabinetmaker before becoming a furniture designer. He combined that practical knowledge of the manufacturing process with an aesthetic that emphasized simple, timeless designs.

About FDB Moebler

In the early 1940s some young, courageous furniture architects were given the task of developing beautiful, functional furniture at attractive prices. Good furniture design and high quality should not only be reserved for the most prosperous in society. FDB Møbler was established to create the framework for close family values and a democratic community. Now 75 years later the old classics, originally designed by Børge Mogensen, Poul M. Volther and others, are developed from the same principles.
