It began with a Dane in Brussels, driven by a vision to bring the authentic Nordic experience to the heart of Europe. What started as a dream to share the finest Nordic products has evolved through challenges, growth, and transformation into today's mission: offering Europe a carefully curated selection of the finest gourmet products from the Nordic region.
The First Years: Learning the Trade
The journey began with the launch of the first CPHAGEN Concept Store in the charming Châtelain area of Brussels. It was here that I learned my trade, welcomed my first employees, and began meeting the fantastic customers who would become not just patrons, but friends. The success led to opening a second location at Place de Londres just a year later. These early years were formative—filled with discovery, connection, and the joy of sharing Nordic culture with Brussels. Then came COVID-19, forcing the closure of the Place de Londres store and presenting the first major challenge to the vision.
The Expansion: A Complete Nordic Experience
Despite the setback, the dream grew bigger. I opened a larger Concept Store in the center of Brussels on Rue de Flandre, followed by a dedicated furniture store just 50 meters away on the same street. Together, these two stores covered all Nordic needs in Brussels—from lifestyle products and gourmet foods to design pieces and furniture. It was the realization of a complete Nordic experience, a place where customers could immerse themselves in every aspect of Nordic living.
Adapting to Change: The Difficult Years
The retail landscape was shifting. Growing online shopping habits made it increasingly difficult for physical stores to compete. One by one, difficult decisions had to be made. First, the Châtelain store closed, then the furniture store, and finally, in summer 2025, the large concept store on Rue de Flandre. These closures weren't failures—they were lessons in adaptation, in understanding how consumer behavior evolves, and in recognizing when it's time to transform.
The Future: A Focused Nordic Gourmet Vision
Today, CPHAGEN has evolved into something more focused and intentional: a Nordic Gourmet store dedicated to selling the best curated products I can find. Every item is personally selected, every brand carefully chosen for its exceptional quality and authentic Nordic heritage. The physical stores may have closed, but the mission remains stronger than ever—to bring Europe the finest gourmet products from the Nordic region, products that are rarely found outside the Nordics, each chosen to create unique experiences and elevate special moments. The journey continues, now reaching customers across Europe through a platform built on years of expertise, relationships with the finest Nordic producers, and an unwavering commitment to quality.
