FDB Mรธbler L32 - Suru - Lounge chair
Sturdy, high-quality materials Nordic Simplicity and Japanese Inspiration.
Carina Maria was trained as a furniture designer and architect, in addition to her background as an upholstery craftsman. Her work is widely recognized, and her Suru chair has elevated her into the pantheon of prominent designers who have created furniture for FDB Mรธbler.
While this chair rests firmly in the Danish design tradition, it reflects both Nordic and Japanese approaches to form and functionโa simple, honest lounge chair, but with an aesthetic bent. The word suru, Japanese for โthrough,โ refers to the fact that the bottom of the chairโs back actually passes through the seat.
Inspiration from Japanese uchiwa fans helps give the chair an open yet enveloping character. Time for Relaxation Carina Maria has succeeded in creating a chair in which the classic and the casual merge in modern, surprising ways. Picture yourself nestled in it with a good cup of coffee and something great to read or a nice knitting projectโthe perfect chair for hard-earned rest and relaxation.
At the same time Suru, spacious enough for two people snuggled up together, invites closeness and personal contact. The presence of Suru infuses any room with a relaxed, informal atmosphere.
The Suru chair consists of two shells making up the seat and back, as well as a wooden frame with large wooden fittings.

In the early 1940s some young, courageous furniture architects were given the task of developing beautiful, functional furniture at attractive prices. Good furniture design and high quality should not only be reserved for the most prosperous in society. FDB Møbler was established to create the framework for close family values and a democratic community. Now 75 years later the old classics, originally designed by Børge Mogensen, Poul M. Volther and others, are developed from the same principles.
